Braves lose close one.
Braves knew coming into tonights game would be a tough one.It was a pitchers duel from the getgo.Scott Guess would take to the mound for the Braves and across the way for the Marlins, Craig Murray, former pitcher for Michigan state. The Braves scored in the 2nd inning with 2-outs, Marty Gallagher came up with a bloop single to left center where the outfielders collided and Marty was able to make it to 2nd.Then Dave Holleman came up with a single to left to put the Braves ahead 1-0.But the Marlins would answer with 1 in the bottom half to tie it at 1.The Braves defense played well that inning with 1 out and runners at 1st and 2nd, ground ball to short, Kris Couch turned the play unassisted with a little help from 1st basemen Dave Holleman with the scoop. The Braves had another chance to put some runs on the board in the 4th with a one out hit by Haufle and Novak, but the Marlins played cheap ball with Angie hitting a soft liner to short, with the short stop purposely dropping the ball to turn a cheap double play. The Marlins would go on to score 2 more runs to make final score 3-1.The Braves tried to make a last inning stand, but could not come through.
Scott pitched a good game.
