Braves Close Out Regular Season with a Win

Braves Beat Black Sox 10-3 @ Maywood Sunday.

On a steamy, 105 degree day, the Braves came out to Maywood playing for one thing - respect. Jim Boschold took the mound and was superb. Boschold went the entire game and pitched a gem. He allowed 3 runs (2 earned) while scattering 6 hits. Bosch struck out 3 while walking 2.

The Braves jumped on top early, taking a 4 run lead in the 1st. Sean "MVP" Carney got things going with a single and a stolen base, and the offense just rolled early. The first inning saw hits from Jim O'Brien, Angelo Deblasi, Kris Couch, Kevin "Kurt" Russell, and Jim Boschold. 4 was all they needed to win this one, but the Braves did not settle. They added another run in the 4th with O'Brien crushing a double, followed by Deblasi and Couch singles. In the 5th, they chipped in two more with singles from Boschold and Dan Holleman, helped by a few Black Sox miscues. And the Braves didn't stop there. With two on in the 6th, Dave Holleman stepped up to the plate for the first time in a few weeks. Dave was down in Myrtle Beach for a rehab assignment with the Braves Class A team while he recovered from a hip injury. He showed no ill effects of the injury as he blasted a dou! ble to right center to score Carney and Bill Guess.

It was a great team effort. Everyone contributed and the Braves enjoyed the day. The big heroes of the day: Jim Boschold for his impressive performance on the mound, and the reigning Brave Team MVP Sean Carney who enjoyed a 3 for 4 afternoon.

The Braves will begin their playoff run Saturday at 10am against the Vikings. The game will be played at Maywood Park. Good seats are still available.
