Braves battle back to win 3rd straight in 8 innings

Saturday's game started out slowly, but finished with a bang. Matt Kempf had one of his best outings of the year, going all 8. Kempf was relentless. He gave up 6 runs (3 earned) on 8 hits. He walked 2 while striking out 6.

We'll start the highlights in the 7th inning, with the Braves trailing by a run. With 1 out, Sean "MVP" Carney, reached with a big triple. Carney was 2 for 4 with 3 runs scored. Down to his last strike, and with 2 out, Kevin Russell reached out and drove in Carney with a soft single to center. Russell finished 2 for 5 with 2 runs and 3 RBIs. Angelo Deblasi followed and put the Braves ahead with an RBI single. Deblasi went 3 for 5 with 2 RBIs.

Unfortunately, the Braves gave up the lead in the bottom of the inning. But the game was far from over. The team cracked things wide open in the 8th, scoring 6 to take the lead for good.

Some other highlights include Joe Petrancosta coming of the bench two go 2 for 3 with an RBI single in the 6th to pull the Braves within 1. Jim Boschold also had a big 2 RBI single in the 8th. Elio "Slammin Sammy" Benitez also had a two hit afternoon. Benitez missed his flight to Tijuana, and the Mexican League's loss was the Braves' gain. Kris Couch also had a 2 hit and 2 walk afternoon.

This was a big win for the Braves. The team showed a lot of heart and determination. The magic number to make the playoffs is now 1. The Braves have 3 remaining games on the schedule, beginning with a rematch with Browns at Grosche tomorrow night. Let's see how far the momentum of this 3 game winning streak will carry them...
